SABATAGE w. MACKLE

"Isla Vista” was the first commericial release of the Los Angeles/ Santa Barbara musician Sabatage. The track exudes a refreshingly candid attitude about some otherwise played out hip-hop themes alcohol and sex. Sabatage’s strikingly witty lyrics illuminate this track, speaking with an earnestness about a subject so close to home. What is engaging about this unabashed maverick, is the multiple nfluences in effect that create his unique sound. The Los Angeles native ingemiously samples beats by Rat-a-tat in “IV” and regina Spektor in “Fiend Zone,” creating an inventies aliance between hip hop and indie music. His most infamous song “Sorority Chick” exploits the stereotypes and downfalls of the greek system and at the same time praises the unique social scene. In his sophmore album, Sabatage is once again reflecting on his own experiences in college, growing up in Los Angeles and women.
